Ubernerkle says: The original director of the original movie is bringing Buffy The Vampire Slayer to the movie theater again. There are no plans to use any original cast members of the movie or the TV show – cue massive outcry of fan teeth-gnashing and speculation!

I’m planning on switching up the format of the Nerkleburst posts after a discussion with a couple of readers over the holiday weekend. It was pointed out that unless you are a Geek/Nerd all the article and link sharing comes across as some sort of secret code short hand. Moving forwards I will provide more details about the links and which groups it might interest.

Ubernerkle and Temporal Consumer are both work’s in progress and while they are projects I am engaging in for my own interests your feedback and input is very welcome at Ubernerkle @ gmail dot com.

Happy Birthday Star Wars. I just got done finishing off Return of the Jedi with Mrs Ubernerkle and the Minions.

4:45 a.m. – Alarm goes off blaring local radio station next to my head. Slap alarm.

5:15 a.m. – Get woken up by the barking dogs and realize, yet again, I had slept in. Yeah, I know – how can I call 5:15 a.m. “sleeping in”, right? Kids, it’s all about having kids. It used to be they would not let you sleep in; but once they start sleeping in, you focus on getting shit done before they get up.

5:16 a.m. – Shuffle out to the family room like some sort of slumber party zombie paying careful attention to dog traps like shredded things, peed-on things, or chewed-on things. Let the dogs out.

5:18 a.m. – (Yes, I noted down these exact times with this post in mind.) Throw on jeans and a grubby house t-shirt, socks and shoes. Poke Mrs. Ubernerkle awake, and not in the fun way.

The hero is on the precipice of some deadly situation. You have been watching for 108 minutes straight and all of a sudden, your wife’s fingers are buried up to her knuckles in your forearm as she struggles for control over her bladder, which is swollen thanks to the soda you split with her.

If only you knew ahead of time when it was a good point to nudge her to go relieve herself. Well, fear no more! http://runpee.com/ allows you to pick a movie and members of the site have indicated the best times to go pee and how long you have to make it back.

Fantastic idea and you don’t get the weird looks at the ER for having deep indentations in your soft tissue.

Nothing impresses the ladies like a well equipped geek.
You were there for the iPhone launch.
You were in the first 100 people to preorder the Kindle.
You said “Pshaw!” to cost and common sense when the Kindle 2 launched.

But are your gadgets big enough? Sure they might fit in your pocket, but why be modest when you can flaunt your tech? Let’s see how the DX compares to the Kindle 2.

So, greater storage capabilities and a larger viewing screen with the whole unit being slightly smaller than most print magazines, all for a mere $130 than the Kindle 2. Amazon is taking preorders but no estimated ship date yet.

Until they offer a subscription service that lets me rent titles and magazines rather than having to buy them out right I am happy to keep watching this tech from the peanut gallery.

Today is Teacher Appreciation Day. Ubernerkle knows this because the Minions brought home notes informing us about Teacher Appreciation Week. Moms, Dads, Veterans, Administrators and you as an individual, Ubernerkle is sorry to have to tell you that you are all less significant than teachers.

Teachers do have a very tough job to get up there and educate your children, equipping them with the tools they will need to function in society and possibly have careers. They are intellectual fire fighters, just less ash-covered and sweaty. It must be like doing a stand up routine every day for a bunch of people who have had their senses of humor surgically removed. Your average teacher these days is also trying to achieve this with students who are disrespectful and encouraged by their parents to challange and be abusive.

Most teachers do just enough to meet their needs, not the needs of their students. Ubernerkle has had the privilege to know a handful of teachers who break that mould. They deserve the day of appreciation, but nobody deserves a week.

The Minion’s school has decreed the wee folk show their appreciation in the following ways; Monday bring an apple, Tuesday bring a flower, Wednesday bring teachers favorite desert, Thursday bring teaching supplies and Friday write your teacher a letter.

Let’s take a closer look at Thursday there for a moment. Teaching Supplies. Yes, students show your teacher appreciation by giving them the supplies and equipment they need to do their jobs because the schools can’t afford to. Elephant in the room much?

The Teacher Appreciation Week is a thinly disgused attempt by schools to try and butter up their teaching staff by guilting children into bringing in a token of their appreciation for their teacher every day of the week. Let’s be honest – do you know of a single teacher whose ego needs to be propped up by an entire week of their students trying to make up for a year of being anarchistic tyrants?

You want to know what would really make teachers feel appreciated? Ubernerkle is going to go out on a limb here:

• The respect of your child to listen and pay attention.
• The respect of you as a parent to educate your child, care for your child and support your child in getting homework done and discussing with them what they learn.
• The respect of the School District in empowering teachers to do the best they can instead of treating them like infantry landing on the beaches of Normandy.
• Tequila. Teacher Appreciation Day is May 5th which is also Cinco De Mayo. Yes friends, that means teachers would really appreciate some booze.
